This month, 16 dedicated parents graduated from Families First’s Power of Parenting: Birth to Age Three program in Mattapan. Among those graduating were four fathers, including the father and son pictured here.
One parent said:
“Before the program, I felt like a plant without water. This program is the water, and [it] arose me.”
This program was provided in partnership with Boston Basics, ABCD Mattapan Headstart, and the Mattapan Community Health Center.
Together, through our combined array of services, we successfully:
- Equipped parents with young children between birth and age three to support their children’s healthy development
- Trained staff members at the Mattapan Head Start and Community Health Center to promote effective parenting practices among families utilizing their services
Thanks to multi-year support from Boston Children’s Hospital‘s Collaboration for Community Health, Families First will form more cross-sector partnerships like this one over the next two years. We look forward to continuing to work with our partners to support families and ensure that more young children across Boston are set up to be healthy and successful in life.
