RELATED TOPICS: Connecting with Your Child; Talk, Sing, and Point; The (Even) More Positive Home
BENEFITS: Connection with parents, turn taking
MATERIALS: Toy, towel
STEPS:
-
Squeeze the toy in front of your child to make them pay attention to the toy.
-
Partially cover the toy with the towel, and keep squeezing it to make it squeak. (as your child gets better at it, hide it completely to make it harder for them)
-
Encourage your child to lift the towel to find the toy. Smile and make eye contact.
-
Don’t forget to cheer for them every time they find the toy.
-
Once your child is old enough, you can change the activity to hide-and-seek. You can hide under a blanket, in another room, or behind the curtains, and call your baby to let them find you.
